Brock Lesnar Signs With K-1 Hero's

Brock Lesnar, a former WWE Champion, NCAA National Champion in amateur wrestling and attempt at an NFL career with the Vikings announced he has signed with K-1 Hero's MMA event. Lesnar announced is intentions to enter the world of mixed martial arts since being cut by the Minnesota Vikings last year.

At the press conference it was said Lesnar will train with MMA Legend, Royce Gracie but that's believed to be a storyline. Although nobody seems to be certain, some say Lesnar has been training with the Miletich camp.

The date for his first fight is scheduled for early 2007.

This is a pretty big story as Lesnar has been one of the most sought after fighters given his immense natural talent and ability. This will be one story to follow over the next several months.

Lesner didn't make it out of training camp, if I remember correctly. Wasn't he supposed to make a WWE comeback?

Re: Brock Lesnar Signs With K-1 Hero's

Lesnar left WWE and his long-term contract with them prior to last year's NFL season. He was with the Vikings in camp. He wasn't football savy enough to warrant a roster spot but they wanted to send him to NFL Europe. He wouldn't go and was cut. He got into a legal battle with WWE because when he left them he signed a 10-year non-compete clause. Finally, it was settled a couple of months ago (although details were never completely released). He's allowed to compete in MMA which is where he's set his sights on now.

A 10 year non compete makes the WWE a bit of a monopoly on a grand scale doesn't it?

Imagine that in other Sports?...
