UFC Shamrock vs. Ortiz

Saturday night, July 8th, the UFC will present their 61st pay-per-view event. It will be headlined by the second battle between bitter enemies and UFC legends, Ken Shamrock and Tito Ortiz. Their hatred for one another is pretty famous (or perhaps infamous) by now.

They fought a year or so ago and Ortiz obliterated Shamrock (Shamrock is much older than the 30-something Ortiz) to the point where he had lumps all over his face...it was nasty. If I was a betting man, of course I'd put it all on the line backing Tito up.

This could possibly be Shamrocks last UFC fight or at least his last big fight.

Also on the card will be Tim Sylvia's 1st title defense since defeating Andre Arelovski (sp?). He will defend it against the former champ in what will be their 3rd fight (each man has won once).

Oh man, that's not gonna be pretty. Ortiz is going to destroy Shamrock.

Re: UFC Shamrock vs. Ortiz

Didn't Ken Shamrock have a history in wrestling for the WWF or the CWC? I am not sure, since I don't watch wrestling that often.

I don't want to look to weird, but didn't Shamrock die?

Shamrock was a WWF wrestler for a while, not sure about CWC. And he's definitely not dead -- he's one of the coaches on Spike TV's Ultimate Fighter reality show. Of course, maybe that's a premonition about the outcome of his fight with Tito Ortiz!

Re: UFC Shamrock vs. Ortiz

I use to watch Ken Shamrock on wrestling all the time.

I never heard of CWC.

As far as I remember he was always with WWF now WWE.

He is too old to be doing this. Age is a factor on our quickness.

Re: UFC Shamrock vs. Ortiz

Shamrock worked for South Atlantic Pro Wrestling and some shoot fighting in Japan. Then he went to the UFC for their original events in 1993. Shamrock debuted with the WWF in 1997 as a special guest referee for the Submission match between Bret Hart and Steve Austin. Afterwards, he became a full-time wrestler. He left WWF around 2001 or so. He went to TNA and actually became the NWA Champion in 2002.

I agree with Raquetball as far as the fact that his age is a huge problem at the moment. Reaction time is so important in fighting and when it's slowed even the slightest, you'll get hurt because of it.

Re: UFC Shamrock vs. Ortiz

Sorry about the confusion, guys.

I meant the WCW not the CWC. As you can see, I am not a big wrestling fan at all.

All I remember about the WCW is Goldberg's face on the game, "Mayhem" for PS1.
