Floyd Mayweather Making $20 Million for One Wrestling Match

The AP came out with a report late yesterday regarding undefeated boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather's participation at WWE Wrestlemania next month. The article broke some news as far as how much money he'll be making...$20 million. That is undoubtedly the highest pay for any celebrity figure in a wrestling match/angle. More than Jay Leno, Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson (only $3 million), Lawrence Taylor, Buster Douglas, David Arquette, and even Donald Trump.

Have to imagine some of the wrestlers are not too happy with the figure. Only the legit top guys in the company probably make 7-figures (limited to a handful of active talent). WWE is hoping Mayweather's participation piques the general public's interest and increase the PPV buy's for the PPV. Mayweather/De La Hoya in 2007 set PPV records. Mayweather/Hatton did good numbers in the U.S. and set PPV records in the U.K.

Will Mayweather's involvement boost the big show (no pun intended)?

Yeah, I can't imagine this is going over well with the workers. That's a whole chunk of change - WCW money, really. Stupid move by Vince?

I think the match that will draw the most attention to the PPV is the Ric Flair vs Shawn Michaels match.

Thats riduclous. Kickers are making 2 mil or less a year, and this guy is making 20 mil in less than 30 minutes. (I know there unrelated, just making a comparison)

Same here. I enjoy the heck out of it, but I've never once in my life bought a PPV card. Why bother when it's on three times a week for free anyway?

I don't watch free wrestling, no way I'll pay to watch this. The only PPV you see me get is the UFC and most the time I watch that at my friend's because my mom hates it.

I'll usually only get two wrestling PPVs a year (Rumble and Wrestlemania).

Barring anything unforseen, you usually get your money's worth with WM.

Some believe the $20 mil figure is inflated on WWE and/or Mayweather's side. It could be, not a shocker if true.
