The AP came out with a report late yesterday regarding undefeated boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather's participation at WWE Wrestlemania next month. The article broke some news as far as how much money he'll be making...$20 million. That is undoubtedly the highest pay for any celebrity figure in a wrestling match/angle. More than Jay Leno, Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson (only $3 million), Lawrence Taylor, Buster Douglas, David Arquette, and even Donald Trump.
Have to imagine some of the wrestlers are not too happy with the figure. Only the legit top guys in the company probably make 7-figures (limited to a handful of active talent). WWE is hoping Mayweather's participation piques the general public's interest and increase the PPV buy's for the PPV. Mayweather/De La Hoya in 2007 set PPV records. Mayweather/Hatton did good numbers in the U.S. and set PPV records in the U.K.
Will Mayweather's involvement boost the big show (no pun intended)?
