Kenny Florian (7-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC), “The Ultimate Fighter 1” middleweight runner-up who parlayed the TV appearance into a top contender’s standing in the UFC’s lightweight division, has confirmed he’ll next fight Joe Lauzon (16-3 MMA, 3-0 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 13 on April 2.

Florian confirmed the rumored bout in an email newsletter he released today.
UFC Fight Night 13 will likely take place in Denver, Colo. (the home of the UFC’s first-ever event). The show will air live on Spike TV and serve as a lead-in for “The Ultimate Fighter 7,” which features Forrest Griffin and UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson as coaches.
Since a loss to Diego Sanchez at The Ultimate Fighter 1 Finale, the 31-year-old Florian is 6-1 in the UFC. His only loss came to Sean Sherk during a fight for the UFC’s vacant lightweight title at UFC 64.
Florian opted to take some time off after his latest fight. He recently revealed that he had been recovering from a herniated disk suffered in that September victory over Din Thomas but that he’s now at 100 percent. “The Finisher” has posted stoppages in all seven of his career victories (additionally, he’s been stopped himself only once — in the fight with Sanchez.)
