A UFC Fight Night 13 event planned for April 2 will include a lightweight bout between Spencer Fisher (20-4 MMA, 5-3 UFC) and Marcus Aurelio (15-5 MMA, 1-1 UFC).
Sources closes to both fighters told
MMAjunkie.com (
UFC News & Rumors - MMA News - UFC Fighters - UFC Event Recaps and Previews - MMAjunkie.com) that the rumored bout has been accepted by both fighters. Fisher, specifically, told some of his fellow fighters about the bout earlier today.
As we’ve reported over the past couple weeks, UFC Fight Night 13, which serves as a lead-in for the upcoming seventh season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” will likely take place in or near
Denver, Colo. However, bout agreements probably won’t be signed until a venue has been finalized.
Fisher, 31, made his UFC debut in October 2005 and has gone 5-3 in the organization. He most recently competed at UFC 78 and suffered a unanimous-decision loss to rising prospect Frankie Edgar. Five months prior, though, he headlined UFC Fight Night 10 and won a rematch against Sam Stout.
Aurelio, 34, made his UFC debut in lackluster fashion and suffered his third-consecutive loss by dropping a decision to Clay Guida at UFC 74. (Guida dominated all three rounds, but inexplicably, the fight was scored 30-27, 28-29, 30-27 for a split decision in his favor). Aurelio earned a reported $30,000 for the fight — and he would have earned another $30,000 with a victory.
