NBC Sports reports UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra has confirmed he will (be ready and) fight interim-champion Georges St. Pierre at an April event in Montreal, Canada.
"The Long Island native told NBCSports.com's John Moody that his back has been rapidly improving and is excited about defending the championship, albeit in St. Pierre's hometown."
The UFC's debut in Canada is set for April 19th at the Bell Centre.
Serra was scheduled to fight Matt Hughes at UFC 79 last weekend. But prior to Thanksgiving, he suffered a back injury during training and was forced to pull out of the fight. Georges St. Pierre stepped in and the fight with Hughes was made for the interim-welterweight championship.
