Choi Yo-sam, a former WBC light flyweight champion passed away Thursday at the age of 33. He won the World Boxing Organisation intercontinental flyweight title on Christmas via unanimous decision over Heri Amol. According to
Reuters, "The Indonesian challenger dominated the 12th round, sending Choi to the canvas with a right to the jaw seconds before the final bell. Choi staggered to his feet but collapsed shortly after the bout and was taken out of the gymnasium on a stretcher. He was declared brain dead on Wednesday."
He went into a coma and never came out of it.
"His heart, liver, both kidneys and both corneas were removed for donation to six patients awaiting transplants" according to the
AP.
