| UFC's 10 Biggest Letdowns of 2007 MMA Analyst put together a list of the biggest letdowns for the Ultimate Fighting Championship this year. 10. Promoting a TUF alumni main event (in regard to UFC 78 in November when Michael Bisping fought Rashad Evans) 9. Rallying for Liddell? Rampage should have been given time. 8. Marketing at the UFC is mediocre 7.Tying up divisional title pictures with a reality show (the welterweight title was featured in the latest Ultimate Fighter season) 6. Stifling fighter's careers because they won't accept a crappy contract (namely Andrei Arlovski who is negotiating a new deal with the UFC, he has one fight left on his current deal) 5. Broken Promises (namely, Fedor Emelianenko. "Stop making promises. Cliche statements may be lame, but they work.") 4. Dana White shouldn't speak in public 3. Putting down MMA websites 2. Handling of the CSAC's decision 1. Promising PRIDE would live, then killing it! Interesting takes but I'm one of those people who like Dana's in-your-face style in press conferences. It's much more interesting then any other in sports. As for everything else, hard to argue. The whole PRIDE deal still left a bad taste in many fans' mouths. The UFC owners said they would keep it alive but after realizing all the trouble in it, have done next to nothing. The only use of the PRIDE libraries I think are the occasional clips used in UFC broadcasts. There's a FSN show but that was negotiated before UFC purchased the company. |
