UFC competitor Jon "War Machine" Koppenhaver has been charged with felony assault and battery in San Diego stemming from an incident in September.
He's charged with punching a man in the face and choking him unconscious outside a San Diego fitness club. Darren Zatkow claims he was outside of the club after a night of drinking when he was grabbed from behind, choked and beaten. He suffered four fractures to his left eye socket.
A witness for the defense claims Koppenhaver did hold Zatkow but he did not assault him.
"The preliminary hearing was expected to continue later Thursday. If the case goes to trial and Koppenhaver is convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of seven years in prison, said prosecutor David Williams."
