| Okami to stay with UFC Middleweight contender Yushin Okami (21-4 MMA, 5-1 UFC), who last defeated Jason MacDonald at UFC 77 in October, has re-signed with the organization. MMAjunkie.com (UFC News & Rumors - MMA News - UFC Fighters - UFC Event Recaps and Previews - MMAjunkie.com) today heard from UFC Vice President of Talent Relations Joe Silva, who stated that Okami has inked a new deal with the organization. The length of the contract and financial terms of the deal were not released, and Okami could not be reached for comment. The signing comes as a bit of surprise — not because Okami didn’t deserve a new deal — but because the organization had been so quiet about the fighter since his October victory over MacDonald. The Oct. 20 win was the last fight under Okami’s previous contract, and in a post-UFC 77 press conference, his name was noticeably absent when UFC President Dana White mentioned a list of contenders for UFC’s middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Fans, and even UFC officials, have mentioned Okami’s sometimes “boring” fighting style; all but two of his UFC victories have come via decision. Additionally, in recent weeks, there were rumors that the 26-year-old fighter may have signed with the Tokyo-based K-1 organization. UFC: Yushin Okami Staying Put with the UFC
