| Don Frye in Fight at Cow Palace Convention Over the weekend, there was a mixed pro wrestling/MMA convention at the Cow Palace in California. Over the three nights (ending tonight) there were scheduled to be some pro wrestling shows as well as an MMA event. However, the MMA event was cancelled due to lack of ticket sales (reported to be around 20-40). The shady promoters skipped town and didn't pay the majority of the talent. So the MMA promoter was in charge of paying the pro wrestlers. It just so happened that Leland Chapman's (Chapman is the son of Dog the Bounty Hunter, and a MMA fighter) bodyguard got into an argument with former pro wrestler and MMA fighter Don Frye (who was reportedly heavily drinking that night).
Frye suggested they go outside to settle their differences and as they were going, the bodyguard suckerpunched Frye. Frye however was able to legsweep the bodyguard and land several punches. The fight was broken up.
Later in the night they ran into each other once again and the bodyguard landed another suckerpunch. The fight was broken up by pro wrestler Scott Norton and Chapman and his bodyguard ran away.
That's what's believed to be the best account of what happened. Frye is alright although he was sporting a shiner after the whole escapade. |
