Re: Hulk Hogan Vs. Andre The Giant

I loved hearing Hogan talk about this match later in his career. I think it was on Andre's A&E Biography. He was so worried that Andre wouldn't "do the deed" and admitted that if Andre decided he wanted to win, there was nothing he (Hulk) could've done about it. As sick as Andre was at that point, he could still have physically dominated Hogan. Was a great match to watch then, and an even better one now that I know the full story behind it.

Andre the giant was unreal, I guess he was growing abnormally fast which was the cause for his sickness, dude was huge..

You won’t find it in the Guinness Book of World Records, but Andre the Giant holds the world record for the largest number of beers consumed in a single sitting. These were standard 12-ounce bottles of beer, nothing fancy, but during a six-hour period Andre drank 119 of them. That’s a beer every three minutes, non stop. That’s beyond epic. It was one of the few times Andre got drunk enough to pass out, which he did in a hallway at his hotel.

A Doctor once asked Andre how much it took to get drunk- “Well,” rumbled the Giant, “It usually takes two liters of vodka just to make me feel warm inside.”

Re: Hulk Hogan Vs. Andre The Giant

Hulkster was friends with the Giant for years...

They did the Japan circuit together early on in Hogan's career...and I vaguely remember them tangling in a match in Georgia once where Hulk hit him with a foreign object and was DQF.

Hulk said he tore his side muscles to shred lifting the Giant on that move...

The height is disputed...look at him next to Hulk who is somewhere between 6-6 and 6-8...some had Andre at 6-10, some taller...

and the Princess Bride totally rocks!..."Is this a kissing book?"..."I don't think that word means what you think it means"..."He is only mostly dead"...etc

Re: Hulk Hogan Vs. Andre The Giant

Andre was (legit) around 6'9, maybe 6'10. It's just that he was so damn bigger than everyone else due to the giants disease known as acromegaly which causes the bones to not stop growing.

Some funny things about the famous bout...in recent years, Hogan would talk about it and tell these hilarious stories. They're not true but he believes them to be (don't ask). Stories ranging from Andre died days later because of the slam (Andre died in 1993, due to the disease), to Hogan breaking his back when slamming Andre (again, not true at all).

Another interesting factoid, is although the official attendance for the Wrestlemania 3 show is 93,173....the legit attendance was around 68,000 I believe. But nevertheless, the 93k is in the books.
