The reigning PRIDE heavyweight champion and the man considered by most to be the best fighter in the world is Fedor Emelianenko. However, safe for a cup of coffee with BoDog he has pretty much remained on the sidelines since PRIDE was sold to the owners of the UFC.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer writes that the UFC has offered a big money contract to Fedor but nevertheless, there are many snags.

Some of the problems:

-Fedor's management want some influence/say in who Fedor fights in the UFC
-" " want the UFC to go to Russia and have some shows there
-" " want a "non-exclusive" deal that would allow Fedor to compete in Russia and the World Championships of Comat Sambo
-" " want UFC to also offer contracts to other members of the Red Devil fight team

It's believed UFC has no real interest in okaying any of those four requests. So we'll see how this plays out.
