Hopkins vs. Wright

Winky Wright will face 42-year-old Bernard Hopkins on Saturday, and he had some strong words for his opponent recently. "My job is to go in the ring and dominate my opponent, and that's what I'm going to do to Bernard," Wright is quoted as saying in a July 20th AP story. "He's going to be a lot bigger and a lot stronger, but he's going to stay dominated from round one... I'll break him down, and he's going to go back to the retirement home because he should have stayed there. He should have stayed retired. He ended his career with a great fight by beating Antonio Tarver. Now he's going to mess that up by getting beaten by me."

Predictions for this one? Can Wright make good on his threats, or will Hopkins pull it out?

Re: Hopkins vs. Wright

Yahoo! Sports' Kevin Iole said, "This fight will showcase technical boxing at its highest level. Hopkins is the naturally bigger fighter, but Wright might be slightly better technically. Look for Wright to win a decision in a taut fight that could be filled with controversy."

I'm not so sure this fight will go the distance. I can see either guy wearing down the either and ending it with a TKO.

I'm hoping for Hopkins but Winky might just be the better fighter tomorrow.

Re: Hopkins vs. Wright

I don't know which boxing group is promoting this fight but I assume the winner will get a Super Middleweight Title shot somewhere down the line. Between Anthony Mikkel, Alejandro Mundine & Kessler Berrio, which is the one who would be defending against the Hopkins/Wright winner?

Re: Hopkins vs. Wright

Hopkins retained, winning a unanimous decision. Must admit I'm surprised. Wright alleges that he should've won, though, and that Hopkins was headbutting him the entire match. Haven't seen it myself, so... can't comment on that. So what's next for Hopkins? Will we see a rematch with Wright?
