If anyone remembers Debra Marshall (ex-wife of Stone Cold, was also involved in a few storylines with WWE in the late 90's-early 2000's) said WWE put a gag order on her in 2003 I believe it was to prevent her from speaking. Austin had supposedly threw her against in a wall. She said Austin was in a roid rage at the time. Maybe if that gag order wasn't put on her, the Benoit tragedy may have not happend. I will not make any judgments until the full toxicology results are in. I have a hard time believing Benoit, who had much respect for his friends, competitors, and wrestling fans, would be a murderer. Something just seems fishy in the investigation after reviewing the text messages and what Benoit was supposedly doing that week.

Being a wrestling fan for about 10 years now, I know for a fact steroids is rampant in wrestling. The superstars in WWE have to perform over 250 days a year, and it is very stressful. Maybe the stress and steroids caught up to Benoit, causing him to snap in such a cruel manner. I was hearing Benoit changed after Eddie Guerrero had died, maybe that played a role as well.

I wouldn't give Debra that much credit. Sure, Steve Austin struck her but it's been said their relationship was volatile and friends said both spouses were guilty of violence towards the other. Obviously none of which should be accepted but we should hear both sides of the story.

The fact is drugs in general are likely widely used in pro wrestling. It's not fair to say all are on something but it's probably right to say a good number of pro wrestlers in WWE, TNA, and the indy's are on something.

As for the schedule, I've read that (at least in WWE) those harsh schedules of the 80s and 90s are not the same now. Safe for a few guys, they work probably less than 200 days a year.

In any event, Larry King Live tonight will be dedicated to pro wrestling. WWE Champ John Cena, Bret Hart and Chris Jericho will be guests.

I remember reading somewhere that is why McMahon calls it sports entertainment and the wrestlers are not refered to as athletes. They are WWE superstars. That way he doesn't fall under the rules of the athletic commissions.

WWF was forced to change to WWE due to the World Wildlife Fund (after 20 some odd years) bringing a suit against them in a London court. A London judge believed there would be confusion in the international marketplace (give me a break) so World Wrestling Federation would have to change their name internationally. So they decided to just go ahead and completely change their name domestically and internationally.

The Benoit Family toxicology reports were presented in a press conference earlier this afternoon. The results....

-Nancy Benoit had normal levels of painkillers in her system. She recently (I believe last year) had back surgery so this seems routine. Her blood alcohol level was at .184 but they can't say whether her body's decomposition caused that or had any role.

-Daniel Benoit had the anti-depression medication Xanax in his system. Xanax is not a medication given to children. They believe Chris gave the medication to his son prior to his murder.

-In Chris Benoit's system, they found painkillers and elevated levels of testosterone.

The only shocking info was that Daniel Benoit had Xanax in his system. Chris' testosterone levels make sense since he was reportedly being treated with testosterone replacement therapy by Dr. Astin.

Nevertheless, we'll never know why Chris Benoit did what he did. Any theories are just that, speculation and theory.

Do you think maybe Chyna uses them?

This wont shed any real light on the Benoit case but at least maybe they will start talking about some of the problems involving steroid use and it will help someone somewhere.

I wouldn't count on that Bette...Joanie Laurer is a joke. She's appeared on one show a couple of weeks ago and was stammering along. She tried to point all the blame on Vince McMahon (she's still bitter it seems) and said one thing about steroids and then said a completely different thing.

I don't care what she claims, she was on something in the 90s. Whether it was steroids or growth hormone.

An update this week...

-Michael Benoit, Chris' father, has been scheduled to appear on ABC's Good Morning America and Nightline on Thursday.

-FOX News out of Atlanta reports tomorrow in New York doctor's will release their results after studying Chris Benoit's brain tissue.

Michael Benoit has been trumping 'diminished capacity' meaning his son wasn't in a logical state of mind before his murderous actions. It's believed the results may show some form of athletic head injury to explain at least something.

The latest news is indeed fact, Chris Benoit suffered a tremendous amount of head trauma.

According to ABC News, the Sports Legacy Institute concluded through their work with Chris Benoit's brain tissue that his brain was similar to an 85-year old Alzheimer's patient.

They say the horrible condition of the brain was due to many concussions and head trauma suffered in the ring.


So it looks like we have some clue about why he did this. It certainly looks like the Chris Benoit that everyone knew was not the one who committed the horrible crimes. Similar to the old football players who committed suicide due to the concussions/dementia from so much contact in their sport, sadly Chris Benoit took two innocent people with him.

When I told my husband about this, he said now that he thinks about it he remembers that one of Benoit's signature moves was from the top rope and driving into his downed opponent's head with his own.

Yep, he's right. It was a top-rope diving headbutt. Probably did have quite a bit to do with his head trauma.
