Ya know, I'm just gonna try and work on the off season a bit, and hope that the fans of teams in the football towns at least take some interest as arbitration and free agency rolls around.3 Not to mention MVP and other awards. There should be enough action in the off season. The Manny watch, CC Sabathia, plenty of big time interest in these two. I'll try to make something work. I just have so much going on in the summer, especially this year, that I didn't devote the time I would have liked to MLB, but I vow to earn my keep now the motorcycle riding isn't a daily deal now! Only two months with my new ride, but she'll be there on the nicer days! |

We shall see. I think there is no reason why they can't at least contend. I"d like to see them take on a team that is more established if they make it, since I know some are thinking this a bit of a fluke. I think they are going to need another pitcher to replace Moyer, and Kendrick wasn't even on the roster for the post season. That is two holes that they might have on the staff. Burrell is gone. There are some concerns. I'm gonna let the parade go by, then start trying to work the net for some stories. The new GM needs to be in place quickly, so we can get active right off the bat! |

It's not easy to repeat, hard for a team to have the same type of hunger and/or desire after they win a title. The winter will pass by so fast it will be like a blur for the players and before they know it they are back to business as usual....as the biggest target of every team on the schedule looking to knock off the champs! |

| Re: 2008 World Series: Rays vs Phillies Folks in Philly in Tampa are very interested but aside from that...uhhhhh.

| Re: 2008 World Series: Rays vs Phillies Oh well, folks aren't that smart about baseball. It's not Tampa or Philly's fault that the masses only watch NY and Boston. There are lots of other good teams out there. Philly boasts back to back MVP's, the leagues dominant closer, and the leading RBI and HR man of the last three seasons. Tampa had a bunch of young players that proved their worth, and staying power this year. Who knows, if there teams meet again next year, maybe folks will wise up and watch. But it still doesn't take Phillys title. What do you propose, that we just let NY, LA, and Boston have 3 way battle, and dumb the sport down for the masses? @#$@ that, let em watch reality TV if they aren't smart enough to watch good sports on TV. Maybe DR Phil or Dancing with the Star is more up their alley! |

2. No the Phillies are the champs and to the folks in Philadelphia it must be party time indeed. The rest of the country really doesn't care. 3. It seems like the only way people will watch the World Series. Believe me if it was the Red Sox vs. the Dodgers the World Series ratings would be resurrected. |

| Re: 2008 World Series: Rays vs Phillies Well, it's not Philly fault folks just don't know enough baseball to be interested. I watch every year no matter what. As I said in the other thread, why do we, as sports fans, care about ratings? If you like the sport, watch, in not, don't. Just that simple. If folks wanna watch NY and Boston, they can watch their DVD's, |

| Re: 2008 World Series: Rays vs Phillies I'd beg to differ as far as "teams that matter". If the other teams don't matter, why not just contract. Bottom line with baseball is that it has fallen out of style to some, due to not giving in to todays thirst for instant gratification. All sports go through cycles, and baseball is off right now. I still love the sport, and just because it isn't fast paced enough, or have whatever others want ot see, it doesn't mean it isn't a good sport. I hope that, unlike the NHL, they stick to their guns, and traditions, and ride it out. Long live baseball, at any level. And fire Bud Selig! |
