| Re: World Series Game Three Red Sox vs Rockies I continue to be amazed at how these guys can hit the ball--foul, fly out, or anything. I have swung a bat twice in my life that I can remember, and not nearly with a ball coming in at 80+ mph. The gforce must be incredible! No wonder bats are getting broken. The first time I swung a bat was in Jr. High gym. I actually made contact with the ball! Base hit! I was so excited, I took off to 1st base, flung the bat behind me, and the bat hit the gym teacher right in the knee ... she had to be helped away. Don't remember anything after that. The second time I swung a bat was on a beach at Cape Cod. The boys were messing around swinging at balls, and I decided that it would be fun to try to hit one. Well, I swung at the ball, missed by a mile, but the force of my own swing caused me to do a 360 in my bare feet in the sand, and everything below the knees became a pretzel. I landed on my a$$, twisted my ankle, and had a sand burn on my elbow. Not fun. It looks a hell of a lot easier than it actually is!
