| Re: 2007 ALCS Cleveland Indians vs. Boston Red Sox I try hard to admit when I'm wrong... and it's time to institute that practice. I was wrong. I knew Beckett would be able to give the Indians a reality check... and he did. However... I figured it would be nothing more than a bump in the road. I was not so sure Schilling's "Quickball" would be enough to handcuff the Tribe. Now that, I was wrong about. Either the Indians hitters were beginning to feel the pressure or Schilling really had them off balance. I was also sure Pedroia, Crisp, Drew, and Lugo were going to continue their hitless ways. Once again (for the most part) I was wrong. A couple of them stepped up. Kudos to Tito for finally trusting Ellsbury... I think he needs to consider Cora at short with Lugo selling Pepsi in the center field stands. So Dice-K looked Dice-y in his last few innings. The solid offensive start by the Sox had me confident, the stumbling Dice-K and the dominant Westbrooke had me pulling my hair out from the 3rd to the 6th. Thank you Kenny Lofton (and the 3rd base coach) for thinking that ball was bouncing right back to short. If Lofton scores... I don't think the Sox get out of that inning any better than a 4-3 deficit. At that point I think they lose confidence and I don't think Pedroia hits that HR. So again... thank you Kenny Lofton.
So... I'm happy to say I'm wrong. There is a tough road ahead. The Rockies look insane. On top of that... it won't be getting any warmer at Fenway and it looks like we might be talking a snow-out at some point in Colorado. Lugo's bat is cool and apparently his defensive abilities are dwindling by the inning. I give them the same forecast. Beckett and Schilling have to win their games. They go up 2-0 at Fenway... lose games 3 & 4 in Colorado... Beckett brings it all back into order with a win in game 5. Game 6... Schilling locks up the World Series... AT FENWAY PARK!!! |
