| Re: ALDS - Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees Welcome to the GoTeamsGo Fan Forum, chsbletz. The Tigers had an incredible first-half but fell off pace in the second. It was terrible to see baseball's best team just squeeze into the Playoffs with a Wild Card. Detriot's season can only be described as a rollercoaster ride. Kenny Rogers was involved in some problems earlier this week. A man claims that Rogers yanked the fan by his collar and then just mysteriously left without making any physical contact with the fellow. It sounds a little odd if you ask me. I would name the Top Player of the Day for the Tigers would be outfielder, Curtis Granderson. He hit a sacrifice fly and a tripled to compile 2 RBIs, both scored by Marcus Thames. Johnny Damon came through for the Yankees but Mussina blew it for them in the seventh. Brian Bruney pitched better than him! |

You're right, it's been really hard for them to hold it together, and the last week of the season was the worst of the season!! Not a good premonition heading into October. But today they played like they actually belong in the post-season. Can we for one second give props to Zumaya?! Wow. Just....wow. Tomorrow's another day....and it will definitely be interesting. Can Rogers pitch around his reputation? Can Johnson pitch around his nagging back troubles? I'm not really one for predictions....I'll just wait and see. |

| Re: ALDS - Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees Amazing that the Yankees cannot get a big hit when they need it. The Royals were able to, as they plastered the Tigers for at least nine runs a game when the divsion title was on the line last weekend, but the Yankees can't. To say this is the greatest lineup in major league history is as stupid a statement as anyone could ever utter, and to say they are better than Murderer's Row of 1927 is a farce.

| Re: ALDS - Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees Yeah, you're absloutely right- tonight is the big game. For the Yanks, it's a must-win. If the Yankees lose, the the Tigers could win the series on Saturday (?). What's Saturday's matchup? Jaret Wright v. Jeremy Bonderman Not comforting for Yankee fans. Even if the Yankees hit Rogers hard tonight, the Tigers can do the same thing to Randy Johnson. It's gonna be a high-scoring game.... |

| Re: ALDS - Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees all I can say is wow, what a performance from Kenny Rogers, the only time i've seen better was when Kurt schilling was pitching i believe it was game 6 a few years back against the yanks with the sewed up ankle, that was good also, but anywhoo, Kenny had some awesome stuff tonight, now hopefully Bondo will feed off of that |

| Re: ALDS - Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees Joe Torre better be prepared to use every pitcher at his disposal this afternoon in game four. I have serious doubts that the Boss would be willing to accept another postseason collapse from his team without heads rolling. Torre can go ahead and start Jaret Wright, but he should get him out of there the minute he shows any signs of faltering. Jeremy Bonderman will not pitch the kind of gem that Kenny Rogers produced, but he can be a challenge. He didn't finish the regular season well, so I'm pretty sure he will be making every effort to redeem himself. The weakness in his pitching approach is that he doesn't have a change of pace to throw batters off stride. The Yankees will need to be patient during their at-bats. The pitching edge would seem to be with the Tigers, but not by much. So, almost anything will be possible. |

| Re: ALDS - Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees Pitching is not the New York problem, it is the lack of fielding and hitting. Johnson should have given up just one run in that inning, as a bad call at third and a screwed up pick off play gave the Tigers a pair of runs. If Joe Torre doesn't care enough to come out and argue the call at third then why should I get all upset? Giambi couldn't make a good throw to second after Granderson was picked off, and he wound up scoring. Bernie Williams struck out twice with runners in scoring position, Jeter hit into a double play, Abreu cannot hit a left hander, and A-Rod is A-Rod. The Yankees have lost in the post season the last few years because they do not hit in the clutch, it's that simple. |

| Re: ALDS - Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees The Yankees pitching has been bad. Their hitting is even worse. They always run into the wall since 2002 against the Angels. The Tigers, if they're going to take the series, need to take it this afternoon. And who the hell pitched for them yeterday? Because that sure wasn't Kenny Rogers. The same Rogers who walked in the series ending run against the Braves in 1999. |
