Re: World Baseball Classic Results Results from 3/8/06 Pool B Canada 8, United States 6 Mexico 10, South Africa 4 Pool C Cuba 8, Panama 6 - 11 innings Puerto Rico 8, Netherlands 3 Pool D Venezuela 6, Italy 0 U.S. is in danger of elimination, the Cubans stuggled with Panama and now have to play a dangerous Puerto Rico team, and Venezuela and Italy are now both 1-1. This WBC is taking some rather interesting turns, don't you think?

Re: World Baseball Classic Results Most of Round 2 has now been set. In Pool 1 at Anaheim, California, three of the four teams have been decided. From Pool B, Mexico advances with a 9-1 win over Canada, and of course Japan and South Korea had qualified earlier from Pool A. The U.S. will advance if they beat South Africa today, or if they lose by more than 7 runs in that game. If South Africa wins by at least 8 runs, then it will be Canada rounding out the quarterfinals. In Pool 2 at San Juan, Puerto Rico, the four teams will be: Puerto Rico, Cuba, Dominican Republic and Venezuela.

Re: World Baseball Classic Results Man could you believe the Mex-Canada result. Now that everything seemed so smooth for canadians and americans!!. Like I said, if a pitcher comes in and starts to dominate the lineup, anything can happen. Go USA!!

Re: World Baseball Classic Results Can't say I'm really overly surprised, Pete. Call me crazy, but I had a feeling Mexico was going to be the team to advance along with the U.S., and while it didn't exactly play out how I thought it would, what with Canada beating us and all, the end result looks like it'll be the same. Unless South Africa shocks the world and absolutely clobbers us, that is. Not likely, but as both you and Pundit keep saying, anything can happen...

You're not the only one Lefty. Look at the Prediciton thread. I actually have Mexico going all the way. But let's not count our chickens, the USA has to win today - and if you have one bad inning, anything can happen.

Re: World Baseball Classic Results Results for 3/10/06 U.S. defeats South Africa 17-0 to advance to Round 2. Shairon Martis of the Netherlands tosses a 7-inning no-hitter as his squad defeats Panama by the final score of 10-0. Currently, both the Australia vs. Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico vs. Cuba games are ongoing. Puerto Rico currently leads the Cubans 4-1 while the Dominicans are up 6-2. But both games are more or less irrelevent, as the 2nd round has been set.

Re: World Baseball Classic Results Monday's results: South Korea 7, United States 3 Dominican Republic 7, Cuba 3 Venezuela 6, Puerto Rico 0 The U.S. is on the verge of elimination, while wins by the Dominicans and Venezuelans mean that everyone in Pool 2 is 1-1, meaning that the winners of today's Venezuela vs. Dominican Republic and Wednesday's Cuba vs. Puerto Rico will advance.

Re: World Baseball Classic Results Tuesday's results: Dominican Republic 2, Venezuela 1 The Dominicans advance, while Venezuela is eliminated Check out our thread on this game at Dominican Republic Advances Japan 6, Mexico 1 "Tomoya Satozaki blasted a two-run homer to cap a four-run fourth inning and Japan went on to a 6-1 victory over Mexico in a Pool 1 showdown Tuesday. Daisuke Matsuzaka tossed five shutout innings and he and three others combined on a three-hitter." - from worldbaseballclassic.com

Re: World Baseball Classic Results The first round records get thrown out the window. Cuba is 2-1 in Pool 2, Puerto Rico is 1-2. Thus, Cuba and the Dominican Republic, also 2-1 in Pool 2, advance while the Puerto Ricans and the Venezuelans are eliminated with 1-2 second round records.
