Ichiro made the statement prior to the Japan - Korea contest that Korea is at least 30 years behind Japan in baseball. He stood by his comments, and then watched as Korea upset his squad 3-2 in front of 40,000 fans at the Tokyo Dome. He is only 3 for 13 with 3 singles and 2 walks so far in the Classic. But it is refreshing to hear players say what they really think! Never happens over here anymore.
Chinese Taipei blasted China in a grudge match 12-3 for their only win of the tournament. Overall, China was outscored in its three games by a 40-6 margin. Nothing unexpected from the Far East in terms of who advanced, but Korea's win over Japan is equivalent to Brazil beating us in basketball, which didn't sit well with US basketball fans.

For Korea to go unbeaten in Pool A and emerge as that group's top seed entering the semis is absolutely stunning, but they just played amazing ball. The only question is, can they maintain that level of play?
