The players involved in the World Baseball Classic are clearing the way for some other players to get some playing time in spring training. This is a unique opportunity for some guys. I know that the teams want all their guys in camp but there may be a silver lining in all of this.

Spring training has always been loaded with ops for other guys. Your starters rarely play much until the season gets close.

I know that spring training does that anyway but some teams have a lot of players on the WBC and the gameday rosters are using even more of the new guys. The Pirates have quite a few guys in the games and their lineup is about 80% minor league. I like it.

I think you're forgetting that the Pirates don't have much major league talent on their roster to start with.
