Madison - With half of the regular-season schedule completed and the University of Wisconsin defense showing no signs of making significant improvement, what options remain for Bret Bielema and his defensive assistants?
Other than one or two possible lineup changes, the options appear to be few for a unit that entered the week ranked eighth or lower in the Big Ten Conference in scoring defense, rushing defense and total defense.
"I think all positions are constantly under evaluation," Bielema said earlier this week. "As time wears on, in particular at a couple of defensive positions, you have to go to your next option."
It is no secret free safety Shane Carter and strong safety Aubrey Pleasant have struggled at times, particularly in run support.
