| Loss highlights problems Madison - One day after suffering its first loss of the season, a 31-26 decision to unranked Illinois, the University of Wisconsin on Sunday dropped 14 spots to No. 19 in the Associated Press college football poll and 10 spots to No. 15 in the USA Today coaches' poll. The Badgers (5-1, 2-1 Big Ten Conference) must address several issues as they prepare to face unranked Penn State (4-2, 1-2) this week in State College, Pa. UW's defense continues to rupture big plays and the offense, which generated just three touchdowns despite gaining more than 500 yards against the Illini, will again be without No. 2 tailback Lance Smith. On an offense lacking big-play ability, a tailback averaging 7.9 yards per carry is a big loss. "It was a very quiet bus ride and plane ride home," coach Bret Bielema said Sunday on his weekly TV show. "I know it hurts them. It hurts me. I told them I wanted them to hurt. "But today when we go back to work we have to make our corrections and get ready for Penn State." Loss highlights problems
