| Heisman dark horse Steve Slaton Now, I know what you're thinking: WVU RB Steve Slaton, a Heisman Trophy candidate? True, Slaton is only a sophomore, but as a true freshman last year he averaged 113 yards per outing and set a Big East record with sixth touchdowns in the Louisville game. He was also named the Sugar Bowl MVP after running for more than 200 yards against the Georgia Bulldogs in WVU's 38-35 win. Slaton may be young, but he may also be the best running back in college football in 2006. So, think he's a dark horse Heisman candidate?

| Re: Heisman dark horse Steve Slaton Well, I did say "may be" - just want that noted. Seriously, though, why shouldn't Slaton's name be discussed in the same conversation as Adrian Peterson, Kenny Irons, Marshaun Lynch, Michael Bush and Mike Hart? He will have at least as good a season, if not a better one, than most of those guys. That's what I think, anyway. |

| Re: Heisman dark horse Steve Slaton if wvu gets two number 1 or 2 in the nation, it will be a guy in the backfield that gets the hiesmen, but it wont be slaton it will be pat white. Pat white will break all of vicks stats by the time he leaves. He will break the big east rushing record for a qb held by a now niner wr,marshall. The one cool fact about him is he was a 4th round pick by the angels as a CF. Turned down a decent signing bonus to play college football, where most schools like auburn and lsu wanted him as a WR. and end up sticking to the postion he wanted to play at wvu at the time not a big name in college football o ya and been busy with the start of school, now bigeast has a thread yay and thanks

| Re: Heisman dark horse Steve Slaton No way... Slaton's the guy. 32 carries for 201 yards and 2 touchdowns against Marshall. I'm telling you, guys, the sophomore tailback is the real deal and I wouldn't be surprised to see him lead the NCAA in rushing this season (well, Division I-A at least). Believe it! |

| Re: Heisman dark horse Steve Slaton My boy Slaton had 103 yards and 2 TDs on just 8 carries in today's blowout of Eastern Washington. That's a 12.9 yards per carry average, folks, and it could've been much worse had WVU not decided to bring in their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc. etc. string running backs. Tell me he's not the best RB in the country right now. |
