Tuna's on his way to Miami to fix Nick Saban's mess. On Tuesday, WVU interviewed Florida assistant Doc Holliday (great name, BTW).

you know something part of me is happy rich rod is gone, he built a great foundation for what wvu can be, however i hate the f'ing 3-3-5 defense, im looking forward to a switch and maybe a 3-4 defense since itll will allow our smaller de's to play lb

Re: New WVU Head Coach

While Florida assistant Doc Holliday is being seen as a favorite to become the new football coach at West Virginia, another son of the Mountain State remains a popular candidate for the job.

Former Auburn coach Terry Bowden has been the beneficiary of a groundswell of public report, according to a report in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Bowden's father Bobby coached at West Virginia early in his career.

The newspaper reported that Bobby Bowden on Wednesday placed a telephone call on his son's behalf to West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin, while a number of boosters, fans and others called West Virginia administrators to express their support.

have you guys seen his record as a coach at auburn tho? i understand the name and all, but we see how well the name with manning carries over to eli. id like to see something new like bud foster, jimbo fisher, hell even trickett or the doc from fl. I also think a big thing is taking a coach that has been recruiting in florida, that is a big pipeline for wvu, they take more guys from fl then they do their own state or pa. So the new coach has to be able to recruit there.

Great point, merv! I was so worried about maintaining the offense, I never stopped to think that the team could wind up getting a major upgrade on the defensive side of the ball. It would be nice to see the D actually stand out, in a good way, for a change.

Re: New WVU Head Coach

Bowden sure did a good job with Auburn. Perhaps he will have the demeanor to have passion to inspire the players and be a magnet for recruiting.
After all, a lot of WV players come from FL and AL so that is right down Bowden's avenue.

Go Louisville, let's make a come back next year! Let's keep the WV-Louisville rivalry one of the national exciting games of the year!!
