No. 6 West Virginia edges Louisville

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -- West Virginia quarterback Pat White's third fumble late in the game helped Louisville erase a 17-point deficit. His final carry kept the sixth-ranked Mountaineers in the thick of the Big East title race.

White scored on a 50-yard run with 1:36remaining and threw two touchdown passes to help West Virginia beat Louisville 38-31 on Thursday night.

Brian Brohm led Louisville's comeback from a 31-14 deficit midway through the third quarter, with the Cardinals tying it on Art Carmody's 37-yard field goal with 3:05 left.

White resuces No. 6 WVU with late touchdown

You know what they say about rivalries

Few rivalries in collegiate sports have reached such a high level of intensity in such a short period of time as Louisville versus West Virginia. You know what they say about rivalries, toss the records out the window. It's that kind of rivalry.

You just know that many cynics and doubters among the local fan base were watching in disbelief, having convinced themselves that U of L had absolutely no chance against West Virginia. Yet the outcome was very much up in the air with less than two minutes on the clock. Maybe, just maybe, this coaching staff isn't as bad as some people seem to believe.

Not to sound like I'm ripping Louisville here, cause I'm not, but a lot of that was because WVU has a bad, bad habit of not finishing, of letting teams back into games, and they did it again against the Cardinals. This team just has zero killer instinct.

I thought about that....
No doubt WVU has a much better football team than Louisville this year.
Still, you have a chance to go to a bowl and perhaps a big bowl so don't be discouraged.

Big East needs a good representative for the BCS and I hope it is WVU.
Hang in there! I think WVU will play more relaxed since Brohm is gone for the year.
