| Mountaineers vs. Maryland I hope the Mountaineers weren't expecting a breather after the Marshall game last week - on Thursday, they face the unbeaten Maryland Terrapins in a short week following a rivalry game. Dangerous one for WVU, if you ask me. They need to forget all about the Herd game (tough to do considering that was probably an emotional win) and focus, quickly, on the Terps. How focused will Rich Rodriguez have his team? That may well determine whether Slaton, White and company can come away unbeaten after this one.

As the AP reports, "Call it Devine intervention: After entering in the second half, freshman Noel Devine provided three long runs to propel No. 4 West Virginia to victory against a longtime rival... Steve Slaton ran for 137 yards and three touchdowns, Devine amassed 125 yards on his first three carries, and the Mountaineers cruised past Maryland 31-14 Thursday night... The 5-foot-8 Devine served as a Slaton's setup man. Early in the third quarter, Devine ran 31 yards to the Maryland 1, putting Slaton in position for the first of his two 1-yard touchdown runs... Devine finished with 136 yards rushing on five attempts." NCAA Football - West Virginia Mountaineers/Maryland Terrapins Recap Thursday September 13, 2007 - Yahoo! Sports |
