Big changes for wvu schedule next year

wvu is going to drop maryland, because they want a two year hiatus from playing wvu. Mississippi State will be gone to since there 2 yr contract ends this year. to replace maryland wvu has picked up colorado universty for 2008-2009 seasons, and there two year home and home contract with auburn begins in 2008 also

Colorado and Auburn next year. Whoo-boy. Time to put up for shut up for the Mountaineers, I guess. They have a shot with White and Slaton, assuming both are still around. To some degree they're carrying the banner for the whole Big East, especially when it comes to facing the SEC opponent. Man, I hope they can pull it out.

Re: Big changes for wvu schedule next year

I love to see that Auburn is going to play a game at West Virginia in the future. I still think their weak out of conference schedule was the determining factor in them not getting a shot at the BCS title game 3 years ago. West Virginia is making the right move in strengthening their out of conference schedule due to the perception around the nation of the Big East being the most inferior of the BCS conferences.

im glad to see them play aburn, they have taken alot of hits about how weak the team is cause they play in the big east, its been a while since they beat georgia if they beat auburn next year, i think coach rods recruiting can get alot easier

Yeah, I agree. The Big East is considered a weak conference, and even though WVU and Louisville could probably compete for a conference title anywhere. Adding SEC opposition to the schedule and hopefully beating them will definitely improve their BCS chances.

Re: Big changes for wvu schedule next year

WVU got Pat White out of Aurburn's backyard and even though a tough game; it's recruiting ground for WVU. My Aurburn friend is still crying about that one getting away.

Believe me, Louisville has some great players coming out of Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. We had to go into those states and play to stay on the radar.
Louisville will be playing Georgia in the coming years.

Re: Big changes for wvu schedule next year

so you want their entire out of conference schedule to be ranked?

Well, let's face it, they do have an uphill battle ahead of them in terms of earning respect. There's a massive anti Big East bias out there, and the voters and pundits don't give them credit for a strong conference schedule. Still, I think Colorado's a decent opponent, and Auburn definitely will add national credibility to the schedule.
