Well, the Mountaineers have hired Bob Huggins to be their next basketball coach.

According to the Associated Press, "After one season at Kansas State, Huggins resigned Thursday to become the men's basketball coach at West Virginia... Though Huggins had turned down West Virginia once before in 2002, he couldn't refuse his alma mater again."

I personally HATE this hire, not just because of what kind of program Huggins typically runs, but also, he showed a lot to me about his (lack of) character by bolting on K-State after just one season. Huggins has been arrested, his players have been arrested, suspended, they don't graduate... I'm just sick to my stomach that WVU hired this guy.

I have never really cared for this guy either. I got to meet him when he coached at Akron. I went to a "Meet the Team" chat at my dorm. He came off as a real jerk to me. We would ask the players questions on a variety of topics, and he would cut the players off and answer for them. He bolted for cincinnati right after his best player graduated.

I agree with you Lefty. The guy has no character, but K-State had to know that he might pull this.

True, K-State had to see this coming. But my main point is I just don't WANT him in Morgantown.

Tubby is totally understandable. The expectations down there in Kentucky were so realistic, and the pressure so enormous, that it's totally reasonable that the man would want to get out of a situation like that and into a place with a little more job security. Belien I'm not happy about, but I'm more confused than anything. Seems like a lateral move to me. That said, I hope I've made it clear that my beef with Huggins isn't just him bailing on K-State, but also with the kinds of programs he's run throughout the years, the low graduation rates, and so on.

fair enough, thought your prob was with how he left, cause ksu had to know that he would leave if he got offered at wvu. He wanted it before he left uc and hardesty didnt want him because of a dui. But your reasons are valid and its somethign he needs to improve if he wants to be remembered as a good teacher of the game

What if this move really turns out good? Sometimes, you just never know.
