Rutgers vs. West Virginia Game

The Big East for 2006 will come down to one week of games. The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will try and clinch the conference with a win on the road in West Virginia. They're coming off a relatively easy win against Syracuse. Meanwhile, the Mountaineers are trying to keep alive any hopes of a BCS Bowl with a win. They lost yesterday in an upset to South Florida.

If the Mountaineers beat Rutgers and Louisville loses to UConn...a three-way tie will exist. In that case, whomever has a higher BCS ranking (between Rutgers, WVU and Louisville) will get the automatic BCS Bowl bid.

So, will WVU end their 2006 season on a terrible two game losing streak? Or will Rutgers completely get shut out this bowl season?

Re: Rutgers vs. West Virginia Game

WVU loss to S.Fla. was a fluke, I'm still stunned. With that said, WVU will beat Rutgers soundly. This will be the best Big East game of the year.

The Louisville, UConn game should be entertaining as well, the Ville will win this one giving WVU the go ahead to a BCS bowl. More than likely the Orange Bowl, against Wake Forest. Go Deacons.

Are you sure the loss to USF won't hurt WVUs chances of getting a BCS bowl?

Re: Rutgers vs. West Virginia Game

Yeah, I'm pretty sure WVU's out of the BCS picture. If Rutgers wins, they win the Big East and get the BCS bid, but if WVU wins, it'll go to Louisville. Shame the Mountaineers pretty much controlled their own destiny and blew it like that. Hopefully they can rebound and win this one, but I'm not so sure anymore.

Now that you mention it...the best that they could hope for would be te Gator Bowl against Ga.Tech. Alot depends on the out come of the Rutgers game and Louisville game. This could still end in a 3 way tie.

More than likely the Orange Bowl with the other NCAA cindarella story out of the ACC, Wake Forest. If both thier seasons end this weekend then th eOrange Bowl would be Ga.Tech an Louisville.

Re: Rutgers vs. West Virginia Game

Would be nice to see the cinderella story teams play against a more traditional football program in the bowl games. In my mind, I'll always wonder if Rutgers/WV/Wake could really match up against the SEC/Big10/Big12 teams that are ranked below them. Kinda like when TN routed Northwestern in the Citrus Bowl when they had their big year back in 96.

With the exception of Duke and may UNC, I"d put any ACC team up against any SEC, Big 12 and most of the Big 10 teams. I was looking at Va.Tech's schedule for the next few years, and we'll get to see how well they do against LSU and Nebraska.

It wasn't pretty, but 2 years ago Tech was USC's season opener coming off a National Championship.

Re: Rutgers vs. West Virginia Game

well here is the bad news wvu fans. The rumor going around morgantown is that alabama has offered coach rod a 7 year 28 mill deal with 14 of it upfront, with what the school pays the athletic dept here i dont see wvu matching the offer. So if he leaves who do you guys see replacing him. I would not mind shula who just got canned from alabama, i love the spread offense we have here, but i wouldnt mind seeing coach rod leave so i can see this retarded 335 stack defense get out of town. It annoys me and teams seem to have no problem with it

That was always one of the best match ups on the Hokies schedule. I miss that game as well.

I've looked at Techs schedule for the next 10 years, and there isn't any WVU games...hopefully this will change.

WVU will take Rutgers out of any BCS Bowl hopes and Louisville will play Wake Forest or Ga.Tech in the Orange Bowl.

Re: Rutgers vs. West Virginia Game

i always looked forawrd to vt wvu more then i look forward to pitt wvu. The fans are both great college football fans and they always play eachother hard. It doesnt matter if one is highly ranked or not and the other isnt ranked your going to get a great game either way its a shame that they dont play but hopefully a bowl game can revive this rivialry
