Wizards Thomas to miss season

Washington Wizards center Etan Thomas underwent surgery yesterday morning at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., to repair a leak in his aortic valve. Thomas is expected to miss the season, according to two league sources. The Wizards said they would not provide any details on the procedure until Thomas gave permission to release medical information. -- Washington Post
