| Wash. State gears up for No. 9 Oregon SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- After turning in its finest showing of the season, Washington State's maligned defense will get a totally different workout this week at No. 9 Oregon, coach Bill Doba said Monday. While Arizona State quarterback Rudy Carpenter is primarily a pocket passer, Oregon's Dennis Dixon is mobile and runs the option, which is much more dangerous against the blitzing style that WSU used in its 23-20 loss last Saturday. | Re: Wash. State gears up for No. 9 Oregon It seems that the Cougars have been in every game that they have lost but unable to close out on top. You just might see a much improved team this week, they are playing for pride now. |
