Re: Ricky Sanders Redskins wide receiver

Who out there remembers former Washington Redskins wide receiver Ricky Sanders? He, Monk and Clark were one of the first great pass catching trios, and Sanders was probably the least heralded of the three. And yet, his career is packed with highlights. He set several title game records in Super Bowl XXII, including most receiving yards (193) and touchdowns (2). It also says here that Sanders "finished his Redskins career fifth on the franchise’s all-time list of reception yards with 5,854" and that he was named to the Redskins 70th Anniversary team in 2002.

Its with the USFL I liked him best...

he flourished in the powerful Gamblers offense, finishing second on the team with 101 receptions for 1,378 yards and 11 touchdowns. His best single-game performance as a Gambler came during the 1984 season when he caught 8 passes and 227 yards against the Pittsburgh Maulers. From 1984-1985, Sanders caught 149 passes for 1,916 yards and 18 touchdowns in the USFL.

Cool Re: Ricky Sanders Redskins wide receiver

Ricky Sanders was the coldest one!!! We go back all the way to Southwest School in Belton, TX. And then on to the Belton Tigers in Jr. High. He was the fastest on the track field and wouldn't miss anything when he played football. I am one of his biggest fans. And I am so proud of what he accomplished. You go boy.

Sadly, I think he was vastly underrated because the wideouts he played alongside were so good.
