Re: Gibbs relying more on assistant coaches

Washington Redskins coach Joe Gibbs has learned to adapt, apparently, giving offensive coordinator Al Saunders and defensive coordinator Gregg Williams responsibilities that at one time he would've insisted on doing himself.

"My goal is to gradually work myself out of a job," Gibbs is quoted as saying in the above article. "Get the best assistant coaches you can. Get the best players you can, and then go on automatic pilot. They can wake me up every now and then when they want to know whether to go for a field goal."

Obviously, that's an exaggeration, but what do you think of the new, "hands off" Joe Gibbs?

That'll stick as long as the Skins win. If they don't the first thing he'll do is take over the play calling.

Re: Gibbs relying more on assistant coaches

I like it. Hell oversee everything but let his coaches have a lot of input. This will build close relationships within the players and assistant coaches and have a great successor to Gibbs when he hangs it up. No man is an island!
