All signs point to this being anything but random. Two weeks ago, his home was broken into and robbed. Taylor returned home to check it out (plus he was injured, so he wasn't with the team). Then a couple of nights ago, while sleeping Taylor hears noise coming from the house. He grabs a machete he keeps for protection and goes to check it out but the burglars break into the bedroom and shoot him once (they fired two shots) and ran. His girlfriend (who hid) calls 911.

The reports say investigators found signs of forced entry but don't know if it's from the first burglary or from two nights ago.

His house was in a gated community in a nice area so it does seem odd his would be targeted twice in two weeks.

As Goth says, sounds like his past caught up with him. I dont think it was random either. I guess he was trying to turn his life around though.

its a shame to hear about stuff like this and of course your prayers are with his family but from what ive read 2 days before this happened someone broke into his home when he wasnt in, went through some draws and left a kitchen knife on his bed ...now it doesnt say that anything was taken but surely if something like that happened 2 days before the incident then aren't you going to be more cautious? like people have said it SEEMS like a blast from his past but at the same time nothing has suggested that his past was coming back to haunt him...although he has only just brought this home in Florida so...

either way...Rest In Peace Sean Talyor, a great player and unfortunatly taken away from us in the prime of life

really sad this has happened, darrent williams and now sean taylor due to gunshots..sounds like he was getting his life back on track too..

Supposedly Taylor was trying to put some distance between himself and his past life. But it's like in Godfather III, when Al Pacino says, "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in." Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you never stop paying for your mistakes.

Interesting quote from Antrel Rolle, who was teammates with Taylor at The U.

The Associated Press reports Arizona Cardinals CB Antrel Rolle said he believes the killing of Washington Redskins S Sean Taylor was not part of a burglary, and that Taylor had many enemies on the streets of Maimi. Rolle said, "This was not the first incident. They've been targeting him for three years now." Rolle said many former "friends" had it in for Taylor. "He really didn't say too much, but I know he lived his life pretty much scared every day of his life when he was down in Miami because those people were targeting him. At least, he's got peace now."
