Blaylock Agrees To Deal

The Washington Redskins and free agent running back Derrick Blaylock agreed to a deal last night, following his participation in the weekend rookie minicamp, and the team offered a contract to free agent tight end Zach Hilton.
A veteran of 51 NFL games and a return specialist as well, Blaylock, 27,worked out this weekend without a contract, but reached a verbal agreement with the team last night, according to his agent Michael Huyghue. Terms of the deal were not available.

Yes and yes. Blaylock showed some real potential in KC. Never quite got it going in NY, but I think running the counter trey in a Joe Gibbs offense might just be what the kid's career needs. I still think he has 25-carry potential as an NFL back.

Cool Re: Blaylock Agrees To Deal

Any of us could have run for 9TD's with that KC offensive line a few years ago. He really was a major disappointment for the Jets. I wouldn't have touched him. The Skins continue to sign free agent Jets.

I've been getting the vibe, increasingly, that Portis' days in Washington are numbered. Get Blaylock in this year, get him familiar with the offense and then run him and Betts in a two back system starting in 2008. Betts just got a big new contract if I'm remembering right, and Portis has had a lot of nagging little injuries.

If that is true, then they gave up a lot for him in Champ Bailey.

You are probably right of course, but it depends what we get for him.
