After drafting USC's Jarrett, Panthers release Keyshawn CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- When the Carolina Panthers drafted Southern California receiver Dwayne Jarrett in the second round Saturday, Keyshawn Johnson was ecstatic. This is a great pick. We need another wide receiver," Johnson gushed while working as a draft analyst. "This guy is much like me. I'm going to teach him how to play from the point of attack." He won't get the chance. The Panthers deemed their older former USC receiver expendable Tuesday. Johnson, the 6-foot-4 possession receiver and 1996 No. 1 overall pick, was released to make way for a younger 6-foot-4 possession receiver taken with the 45th pick. CLICK LINK TO READ MORE 1. Would he fit on the Redskins as a stop gap measure? Is he the person I am thinking of who does a good job of blocking downfield?

Re: After drafting USC's Jarrett, Panthers release Keyshawn We don't need anymore receivers. Also, knowing Keyshawn Johnson he will complain about lack of playing time to Santana Moss or Antwaan Randle El and Gibbs won't put up with that. Good pick by the Panthers. I think he will compliment Steve Smith better than Johnson.

Re: After drafting USC's Jarrett, Panthers release Keyshawn I see your point but am not sure if I agree with you. Alot depends on Loyd and maybe Espy evolving. Right now it seems like Moss and Cooley, and if we get an effective 2, then Randall getting to be a much more dangerous weapon.
