Redskins Draft S LaRon Landry

The Redskins made safety LaRon Landry from LSU the sixth player taken in the 2007 draft. He's seen by some as the best defensive player in the draft and paired with Sean Taylor, well, nobody will be crossing the middle.

It's clear they will have one of the best secondaries now. The Redskins don't have anothe draft pick until tomorrow though.

I don't see how you can be upset with this pick.

Best defensive player in the draft, no doubt about it. Great pick.

Come on...a safety at #5?...look at Roy Williams and Michael Huff...great yeah...but what did they give up to take a safety that high...

If he's an Ed Reed-Troy Polamalu kind of guy, he can be a game changer. Why not?

Because Washington does not have the D to make them another Reed or Troy...bad pick in my book...

Re: Redskins Draft S LaRon Landry

What do we look for during the second day.
*=good values
DL
1. Paul Soliai DT Utah
2. Baraka Atkins DE Miami
3. Ryan McBean DT Oklahoma State
4. Jay Moore DE Nebraska*
5. Antonio Johonson DT Mississippi State
6. Marcus Thomas DT Florida* (first round talent-character issues)
7. Kevin Brown DT Miami
8. Chase Pittman DE LSU
9. Noland Burchette DE Virginia Tech
10. Derek Landri DT Notre Dame
11. David Paterson DT Ohio State
12. Mkristo Bruce DE Washington State
13. Keith Jackson DT Arkansas
14. Clifton Ryan DT Michigan State
15. Walter Thomas Northwest Missouri CC*-(Character issues-has looked great in workouts)

Of course if players of need are not near the best value we go for best value.

1. I guess Landry could be a good pick if he covers well one on one opening up more blitzing opprotunities.

2. Gibbs is talking depth at LB in day 2; I also see us getting a QB as a back up of the future.

Welcome to gtg GoDoggo.

Why won't the Redskins use a second day pick on a skill position like WR?

Re: Redskins Draft S LaRon Landry

I guess the went best available. My feeling is DL is more a need than WR, though I would admit a solid number 2 would be nice.

...Because we are stacked with talent in receivers. A late-round LB would be a safe pick. Somehow I don't trust how well London Fletcher will be.
