LB LaVar Arrington Buys Out Contract

So what went wrong, Redskins fans?

Here you have LaVar Arrington, a linebacker who was phenomenal in college and made 3 Pro Bowls in Washington. He also played for 5 different defensive coordinators in 5 years, battled with Dan Snyder over his contract, injured himself and then got benched because he wasn't playing in Gregg Williams' scheme. And now, he paid his way out of town, surrendering $4-5 million in order to become a free agent.

Whose to blame here? Should the coaches have altered their schemes to adjust to Arrington's style of play? Should he have been more willing to conform to the defensive gameplan? What went wrong?

Re: LB LaVar Arrington Buys Out Contract

A lot of things. LaVar Arrington is a guy that you want playing linebacker for your team. He's incredibly fast, which gives him the ability to run step-in-step with a wide receiver. He can blitz. Tackle. Chase the runner down. He can do anything at almost any position on the defensive side of the field.

He's also smart, and knows that he wants to play in a style to his liking and knows that there will be any team out there to hand him a contract. Now, who wants a new linebacker?

Re: LB LaVar Arrington Buys Out Contract

I remember when he was considered one of the top 3 MLBs in the game...now he'll be signed as a team that wants to take a chance. There's no doubting his talent but c'mon, what kind of player wouldnt want to play for Greg Robinson (as a defensive player)?
