Redskins sign Ladell Betts to extension

According to the AP, Redskins RB Ladell Betts has signed a new 5-year, $11 million deal to remain as the backup to Clinton Portis in Washington. Betts has over 640 yards rushing and is second on the team in receptions. Good idea for the Redskins to try and keep him, but isn't it a little surprising that he opted to stay behind Portis instead of testing the waters elsewhere, and maybe landing a starting job?

Maybe he knows something we don't about all the injuries to Portis this year. He could just be biding his time.

Hmm... that's possible. Any chance the franchise might be souring on Portis, you think?
