Frank Robinson breaks down

Robinson had to pull his catcher out, Matthew Lecroy, in the middle of the seventh inning on Thursday. The Astros were swiping bases on him like kids used to swipe apples from the old lady down the street, After the game, Robinson could barely hold it together, he felt so badly about embarrassing his player that way. But he really had no choice. Houston had already stolen 7 bases, and Lecroy, who has caught only 1 of 20 this year, was throwing the ball all over the place. An old school guy like Robinson hated to do that to one of his players, but what could he do? Robinson is not the greatest manager of all time, but he cares about his players and doing things the right way. He is a class guy.

If you lose to seven runners in a row, you should save your skipper the walk and do the honorable thing, and fail to come out for the next inning...Robinson is in there to win games...not protect a player haivng a bad day...It was more than okay to yank him...

Re: Frank Robinson breaks down

Robinson is truly one of the best baseball guys in the game and watching him have to lead a franchise with so many factors against them is sad.

As far as him pulling LeCroy, he had to, but the man also respects his players. Very honorable.

Re: Frank Robinson breaks down

Don't look now, but Washington is playing pretty good ball right now. 9-3 in their last dozen games, with the Braves and Phillies up next in what will either allow them back into the race or settle their fate for good. Ex-Yanks Soriano and Nick Johnson have 33 homers and 72 RBI between them. The pitching just does not look like it will get them to where they need to be, but glad to see them trying to recover from that bad start.

Cool Re: Frank Robinson breaks down

I love Frank but I thought the tears were a bit too much. There's no crying in baseball.
