| Nationals swept, Bowden promises changes Same old story for the Washington Nationals - they look terrible on the field, and their general manager is talking big about making changes and turning the club into a winner. So what else is new? "I think all of us have a level of frustration in the lack of productivity in certain areas on the club," Jim Bowden told reporters yesterday. "And the reality is we either step up and produce, or there has to be change or other people will get those opportunities... Patience goes only so far... Decisions have to be made and finalized so when we build our next team for next year, we know exactly who on this team can be a part of it and who's not going to be a part of it." So play GM for me. How do you fix the Washington Nationals?

| Re: Nationals swept, Bowden promises changes A lot of things need to be changed with the Nationals. Defense is sub-par offense is even worse and pitching....well pitching is terrible. The outfield is my first concern. Nook Logan has no business being on the field. He misjudges fly balls consistently and can't hit to save his life. Yes he is fast but what good is he to us if he can't judge fly balls and get on base? Austin Kearns can't hit either. His swing has too many flaws and needs to be fixed. He is in a 1 for 40 slump at the plate and has 1 RBI in the past month. Langerhans and Church can't hit either they are decent fielders but just look uncomfortable and too anxious at the plate resulting in a poor performance. My next problem comes with catcher Brian Schneider. For some reason they love him. He is a .250 hitter at best and a strikeout and DP expert. Having him in the lineup is like having another pitcher hitting. Let Flores play more so we can see why we picked him up! Our pitching needs to get better. When they miss their spots, they miss right over the plate for opposing hitters to feast on. Not one pitcher on the staff has confidence (except for Sean Hill and MAYBE Jason Bergmann). I am a season ticket holder and going to the games to witness this is just painful and something HAS to be done. I know they are revuilding but at the same time, they are signing completely worthless free agents (Tony Batista, Robert Fick etc.) give the younger guys a chance I mean they can't do any worse! Thanks, Pat |
