Nationals Sign Ronnie Belliard

The Nationals have signed 2B Ronnie Bellliard (a World Series Champion now) to a minor league contract according to MLB.com.

I'm surprised he only got a minor league deal considering he appeared to be one of the top 2B available in free-agency. According to the article, Belliard is looked at to be a potential back-up for 3B and 2B and if need be, a starter at 2B.

Good signing though, even if he is just a back-up.

I'm surprised, too. Belliard is a pretty good player.
The Mets might have been better off with him than Valentin

I shocked too. He was always a solid bat and fielder when he was with Cleveland. He also just won a ring in St Louis. He should have held out for more.

Re: Nationals Sign Ronnie Belliard

He kind of wore out his welcome in Cleveland, but I think he's worth more than the minor league contract he was given.
