Washington signs Austin Kerns

The Washington Nationals have signed OF Austin Kerns to a three-year deal worth $17.5 million. According to the Associated Press, "Kearns will get $3.5 million this year, $5 million in 2008 and $8 million in 2009, and the Nationals hold a $10 million club option for 2010, with a $1 million buyout. The contract does not include bonus clauses, but Kearns would receive a one-time payment of $100,000 if traded."

Kearns always seem to have that potential to be a top outfielder in the game. Will he step up now that he has a steady deal?

I don't even know if he'll have any other solid protection in the Nats line-up.

I think the injury bug is what has been his down fall...
