The Olympics don't have many camping areas. I lived in Seattle for 5 years and did a week long backpack trip into the backcountry....you better carry a weapon to fend off the bears and mountain lions. It's a beautiful wilderness, nothing else quite like it in the lower 48...some places on the ridges provide views of the Pacific to the west and views of Puget Sound and at night the lights of Seattle to the east. Check out the website for the park here:

I recommend the Hoh campground on the beach...it's a very rugged coastal area with old growth forest coming right down to the rocks near the beach.

If you go north of Seattle, catch the ferry from Anacortes and take it to San Juan, beautiful scenery out on that island and weather is a bit more mild there than most places because it's in the rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains. If you have the time, Butchert Gardens in Victoria, BC is highly recommended...nothing else quite like it. About 30-45 minutes east of Seattle on I-90 you want to see Snoqualmie Falls....sadly late summer there isn't near the water flow as there is in spring but it's still spectacular. There is also a nice day trip you can take over to Mt Rainier National Park....very spectacular scenery there as well. Hope you get clear weather when you're there.
