Ready for Oregon week?

Here we go! Camp is officially over and the Huskies jump headlong into game week. As part of the preparation for 7 p.m. game at Oregon Saturday, the team will have its two main practices in the evening. On Tuesday, the team practices at 7, and at 7:30 on Wednesday.

Some business south of the (state) border:

* Quarterback Nate Costa is doubtful for Saturday's game. He reinjured his surgically-repaired right knee. The official diagnosis won't be given until later today. It doesn't sound good for the third-year sophomore.

* That means Justin Roper will be the starter against Washington..

* Defensive coordinator Nick Aliotti was not pleased with the Ducks' final scrimmage on Friday, but the offense apparently looked pretty good.

* And the team named its captains. (Remember, the Huskies have game captains and then elect the yearly captains at the end of the season.)
Finally, here is where I check the weekly betting odds. Caesars-Hilton and Stations still has the Ducks favored by 13.5.

Tomorrow morning we reporters have a teleconference with Oregon coach Mike Bellotti, followed by a weekly luncheon with Tyrone Willingham, Jake Locker and selected players.

I'll have blog updates throughout the day -- and continuing through the week -- to lead us up to game day.

Is anyone else excited?!
