Huskies hire Donatell as coordinator

SEATTLE (AP) -- Ed Donatell has friends in high places.

That's a primary reason why the former NFL assistant will now try to elevate Washington from the depths of the Pac-10.

Coach Tyrone Willingham announced Donatell as the Huskies' defensive coordinator Thursday. He will replace Kent Baer, a 13-year assistant of Willingham's who was fired last month after one of the worst seasons on defense in UW's history.
