The Sporting News' Matt Hayes lists Huskies QB Jake Locker as one of the players in the nation who will "break out" this season and become a well known commodity nationally.

Here's what Hayes had to say: "Listen to Arizona State coach Dennis Erickson: "I've seen a lot of quarterbacks, recruited a lot of quarterbacks. I haven't seen many better than Jake Locker." Washington coach Ty Willingham thought of pulling Locker's redshirt as the team struggled in the second half of last season. While I have reservations about Willingham's use of quarterbacks, I have faith that offensive coordinator Tim Lappano, one of the college game's best offensive minds/teachers, will put Locker in position to make plays."

I'm not sure. He's physically talented - Scout.com calls him "a bigger Marques Tuiasosopo with a stronger arm." - but he's still a redshirt freshman if I'm not mistaken. I want to see that he can handle the decision making and leadership aspects of the position. Lots of buzz surrounding the kid, but who knows, he could wind up being like Ron Paulus - an overhyped bust. Time will tell.
