5-3 final - watching the highlights, it looked like a good game - some great goals by the Thrashers - but Washington had more in the end. And Ovechkin has 60 goals - 2 goals and 2 assists with a total 106 points.
No one in the NHL has hit the 60-goal mark since the 1995-96 season when Pittsburgh’s Lemieux and Jagr both did it.
Ovechkin’s previous best was 52 goals, accomplished in his rookie season of 2005-06.
Nicklas backstrom had 2 goals and an assist last night.
Thrashers' Jim Slater had 2 goals as well.
